(Springfield) It was a rough start for area teams at the Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament on day 1.
In the Blue Division, West Plains was bounced by third-seed Willard, 70-51. The Zizzers will face Reeds Spring in the consolation bracket at 2 pm at Hammons Student Center and broadcast on KDY.
Reeds Spring lost to Hartville in the opening round. Hartville, a 6th seed, faces Willard in the quarterfinals at 2 at JQH Arena.
Also in the Blue Division, #2 seed Kickapoo blew out Houston 81-21 while Mtn. Grove lost by 10 to Branson, 61-51. Grove and Houston will play today at 12:30.
In the Gold Division, 8th seeded Willow Springs was upset by non-seed Central, 61-42. The Bears will play Aurora at 5 in the consolation bracket today. The game will be broadcast on KUKU.
Ava advanced with a 58-39 win over Stockton. The third-seeded Bears will tackle Republic at JQH Arena at 9:30 tonight.
