Oakland topped the Royals 5-3 in Kansas City, taking the final two games in the weekend series. Nick Allen had a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning, while Seth Brown homered in the ninth to give the A’s an insurance run. Sam Moll got the win and Lou Trivino posted his fourth save. Carlos Santana had a two-run single in a three-run sixth inning for the Royals, who have dropped three-of-four. Brady Singer pitched into the ninth but allowed all five runs to fall to 3-and-3 on the year.
Cubs 6, Cardinals 5 10 innings
Willson Contreras is leading the Cubs past their bitter rivals. Contreras finished with three RBI as the Cubs rallied past the Cardinals 6-5 in 10 innings in St. Louis. Rafael Ortega drove in a pair of runs for Chicago. David Robertson picked up the win for the Cubs, who are 28-and-45. Brendan Donovan, Paul Goldschmidt, and Juan Yepez all homered for the Cardinals, who blew a 5-0 lead. Zack Thompson took the loss for St. Louis, which is 41-and-34.
