WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Jaima Bice and Mahayla Kirby have been chosen as bat girls for the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Softball team’s inaugural season.
Bice is a seventh grader at West Plains Middle School and the daughter of Allyson and Shawn Bice, West Plains.
Kirby is a fourth grader at Fairview School and the daughter of Cammie Svuba and Kris Kirby, both of West Plains.
“Investing in the youth of our community and providing opportunities to area softball athletes are two of our program’s goals,” Grizzly Softball Head Coach Don Long said. “We are excited to welcome these two softball athletes to our team.”
Bice, whose favorite hobby is softball, said she is excited to see a softball team at MSU-WP because it gives her the opportunity to be part of the team and watch a collegiate-level team in person. She’s eager to learn from the student-athletes.
“I think it will not only inspire me to improve my game and love for softball, but it will also inspire so many other girls in our community. I can’t wait!,” she said.
Kirby said softball is her favorite sport and she is excited to watch the Grizzly Softball team in action this fall in next spring.
