Bazelak, Mevis Named to FWAA Freshman All-American Watch List

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Football’s QB Connor Bazelak (Dayton, Ohio) and K Harrison Mevis (Warsaw, Ind.) have been named to the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-American Watch List, announced Tuesday morning (Oct. 20). Bazelak is one of eight quarterbacks on the list while Mevis is on of just three kickers.

Bazelak is coming off of a week during which he won a pair of national awards and the SEC Freshman of the Week distinction for engineering an upset win over defending national champion and 17th-ranked LSU on Oct. 10. He is 46-of-69 on the year for 692 yards and four touchdowns. His QB efficient rating is 171.49 through three games.

Mevis has been sensational during his first year with the program as well, connecting on five-of-six field goals, including a pair from 50+ yards. His only miss came from 56 yards and his 52-yarder at Tennessee is a Mizzou freshman record for longest field goal made. He is also 7-for-7 on extra-point attempts and leads the team with 22 points.

This year’s FWAA Freshman All-American team will represent the 20th since its inception and feature a list of 7 semifinalists and 3 finalists later this season leading up to the unveil of the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year.
