Bears Fall Just Short to Bobcats

After a tough loss last week, the Willow Springs Bears were at home for Senior night, to take on the Thayer Bobcats hoping to come away with the win.

Unfortunately it was announced before the game that Taylor Rothermich, the starting quarterback for the
Bears sustained an injury in last weeks game, and will be out for the rest of the season.
On the first play from scrimmage, the Bobcats would waste little time finding the end zone, and took an early 7 – 0 lead. But the Bears would answer back quickly, and tie the game 7 -7.

But the scoring wouldn’t end there as Thayer would score yet another touchdown and lead 14 -7. Willow Springs would take on and drive all the way down the goal line, but would fumble the ball on the 1 yard line.  The Bobcats regained the fumble, but the Bears would get a big sack in the game, getting a safety, closing the gap to 14 -9 by the end of the 1st quarter.

Neither team would score until the 3rd quarter, when the Bears came up with a huge touchdown, and take their first lead of the night, making the score 15 – 14.  In the 4th quarter, both teams would find the endzone, but it would be Thayer who would retake the lead by a narrow margin, 22 -21.

The Beas would drive down the field, but would give up an interception, and end the night for Willow Springs.  A hard fought game, that would come up just short for the Bears.

With a recap of the game, here’s Marty Spence:

With the loss, the Bears fall to 3 – 5 on the season.  Willow Springs will end the regular season next week, on the road to take on the Ava Bears

Again, final score from the game:
Wilow Springs Bears 21
Thayer Bobcats 22
