The Willow Springs Bears faced off against the Ash Grove Pirates today in their first round of the Blue & Gold tournament. The first half ended with the Bears disadvantaged and down 7 points, with the Pirates player Brady Nicholson making several plays for the Ash Grove team and scoring 20 points alone in the 2nd quarter. The half time ended with the Bears at 32, and the Pirates at 39.
The Bears put forth good plays and counters for the Pirates and managed to tie their opposing team throughout the 3rd quarter and even managed to take the lead at a point. The 3rd quarter ended with only a 1 point difference between the two teams; Bears: 58, Pirates: 59.
The 4th and final quarter of this heated game continued the trend of both teams not wanting to give a clear lead. Unfortunately, the Pirates managed to pull ahead right toward the end. The game ended with the score being 80 to 82, in favor of the Pirates.
