The West Plains Zizzers took on the Bolivar Liberators in the second round of the Bolivar Tournament on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024. This marked the both teams entry into the consolation bracket, with the Zizzers falling to Helias and the Liberators falling to Thayer in the first round.
To say every quarter was close in this game is an understatement. Neither team would get a substantial lead on the other before the team behind would take the lead back. The Zizzers had an early lead in the first quarter only to be overtaken by the Liberators and end the quarter tied at 14. West Plains managed to hold the lead during the second quarter, ending the half ahead by 1, 29 to 28.
Things looked like they might change in the third as the Liberators took the lead at the end of the quarter with a score of 41 to 43. By the end of the fourth quarter, a field goal by the Zizzers in the last few seconds threw the game into overtime with the score tied at 50.
West Plains played strong during overtime, keeping Bolivar to a single successful 3-point shot while scoring 7 points of their own to take the win.
The West Plains Zizzers wins against the Bolivar Liberators in overtime, 57-53. Zizzers will play in the Consolation Trophy game on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against the Branson Pirates.
