The West Plains Zizzers took on the Branson Pirates in the final round of the Bolivar Tournament. The Zizzers defeated the Pirates eight days earlier in West Plains and were hoping for another win.
West Plains found a massive uphill challenge by the end of the first quarter, falling behind Branson 16 points with a score of 11 to 27. At one point in the second quarter, the Zizzers were down 20 points but, managed to outscore the Pirates in the quarter, ending the first half with a score of 29 to 38, Pirates still in the lead.
The third quarter saw the Pirates shoring up their flank and holding the Zizzers back from closing the point gap. Both teams scored 17 points and ended the quarter with a score of Zizzers 46, Pirates 55. West Plains managed to come within 2 points of the Pirates in the final minute of the fourth quarter but two successful free throws by the Pirates would seal the loss for West Plains.
The West Plains Zizzers fall to the Branson Pirates, 72-76. The Zizzers will next play at home on Tuesday, Jan. 30, against the Lebanon Yellow Jackets.
