The West Plains Zizzers faced the Mountain Home Bombers tonight August 30, 2024.
In the first quarter, the Zizzers started off the game with the ball. With both being small schools both have their strengths with the Bombers’ strength being in their five defensive back. They get to 8 minutes and 36 seconds into the game without any touchdowns leaving the announcers to believe this may be a slow game or just a slow start. The Zizzers get the first score of the game and a good kick bringing the score to 7 to 0 with Zizzers in the lead. Bombers quickly catch up bringing the score to a tie before surpassing the Zizzers with a second touchdown in a span of 10 seconds, ending the first quarter with the Bombers in the lead with 14 to 7.
The 2nd quarter is another slow starter with both teams struggling to score touchdowns while keeping the other from going anywhere. There was no points scored until the Bombers get the first touchdown of the 2nd quarter at 2 minutes and 8 seconds leaving the first half of the game ending at Bombers still leading the game at 24 to 7.
The 2nd half starts with a Bomber touchdown right out of the gates giving them a huge lead of 30 to 7 after they run straight from one end of the field to the other. The Bombers continue to push the Zizzers back, taking the field again scoring another touchdown bringing the score to 36 to 7. Zizzers take back the ball though, getting a touchdown. They close the gap a little, taking the score to 36 to 14. There was very little room between tackles towards the end of the third quarter, leaving the quarter ending at the score of 36 to 14 with the Bombers in the lead.
The last quarter of the game once again starts in a struggle with both teams trying to get the upper hand against the other. The Bombers finally stop the struggle when they score a touchdown bringing the score to 43 to 14. The Zizzers once again get their moment in the spotlight and score another touchdown bringing the score to 43 to 21 and ending the game with the Bombers winning.
