The St. Louis Cardinals fell further behind in the NL Central race following a 3-2 lead to first-place Milwaukee at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals trailed 3-0 before Matt Carpenter hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth, but they weren’t able to finish off the comeback. Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Gorman struck out with the bases loaded in the ninth inning. Erick Fedde was charged with his seventh loss after giving up two runs on six hits in five-and-two-thirds innings. St. Louis is in third place in the NL Central at 61-and-64. The Cardinals send Kyle Gibson to the mound against the Brewers tonight.
