The Cardinals tried to make it interesting, they fell behind 6-0, cut it to 6-4 when Jordan Walker hit his 22nd homer. Down 7-4 in the eighth, with runners on first and third and one out, Walker struck out, Lars Nootbar popped out and Milwaukee tacked on an insurance run. Cardinals lost 8-4, they drop four out of five to the first place Brewers 10.5 games out of first and now three games out in the Wild Card behind Miami.
