KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After helping Evangel rack up 517 yards of total offense and its first victory of the 2020 season Saturday, senior wide receiver Sam Buckner has been honored as the Big Game Heart Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

- Buckner led Evangel with a game-high 191 all-purpose yards in its 28-13 win over Clarke
- Recorded career highs for receptions (8) and receiving yards (187) in the victory to help EU top the 500-yard mark for total offense for the first time since November 2015
- Hauled in two separate catches of 60+ yards, including the game-clinching 68-yard scoring catch and run with just under six minutes to play in a one-possession game
The Crusaders (1-2) will open Heart Conference divisional play this Saturday (Oct. 17), when they travel to Atchison, Kan., for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Benedictine.
