The Cabool Holiday Tournament came to an end on Thursday night as a new champion was crowned. The Mansfield Tigers faced the defending champion Thayer Bobcats in the Championship game and it was a heavyweight slugfest with Mansfield coming out on top 71-62 behind tournament MVP Tom Emerick’s 26 points, London Dennis added 19. The Bobcats were led by Junior Aiden Burns with 21 and Devin Harrington added 15.
In the third place game the Norwood Pirates and the Licking Wildcats met with Norwood coming out on top 78-74. Norwood was lead by Gavin McGraw with 30 points and Cooper Vaughn with 19. Rostan Stockard had 20 points and Austin James score 19 for the Licking Wildcats.
The fifth place game saw the Liberty Eagles and Summersville Wildcats two teams who are very familiar with one another in their second match up of the year. This time the Eagles get the win 78-44 behind Drew Ripko’s game high 26 and Terrell Gaines 22 points. The Wildcats were lead by Tristan Duncan who scored 25 and Andrew Buschman with 11, the duo accounted for 36 of the teams 44 points.
The consolation game put the Alton Comets against the Salem (MO) Tigers. Rylan Steele scored 20 to lead five Comets in double figures on the night, Salem’s Bryson May lead all scorers in the game with 25 as the Comets beat the Tigers 72-46.
