Andre Pallante pitched eight scoreless innings and struck out eight as the Cardinals blanked the Nationals 5-0 in D.C. Pallante held the Nationals to just five hits in the victory. Corey Dickerson and Paul DeJong homered for St. Louis. The Cardinals are 54-and-48 and trail the Brewers by three games in the NL Central divisional race. They’re also one game back of the final Wild Card spot in the NL. The Cardinals return home to take on the Cubs tomorrow night.
Royals 8, Yankees 6
The Royals are salvaging their series finale with the Yankees after an 8-6 victory in the Bronx. Salvador Perez hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the ninth to propel Kansas City to the win. Taylor Clarke was credited with his second victory of the season after pitching a couple scoreless innings of relief.
