The Cardinals shut out the Nationals 6-0 to claim their series from DC. Miles Mikolas won after giving up six hits and striking out three batters over six-plus innings. Alec Burleson went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBI. Paul Goldschmidt also went deep with a solo homer, while Brendan Donovan recorded a pair of hits to go with an RBI. St. Louis has won four of its last five to remain second in the NL Central at 48-and-42. Keibert Ruiz laced a double and accounted for two of Washington’s eight hits. Mitchell Parker got saddled with the loss after giving up one earned run over seven innings as the Nats have lost three-of-five to stay fourth in the NL East at 42-and-49.
