Willson Contreras and the Cardinals beat the Nationals 8-3 from the Nation’s Capital. The designated hitter went two-for-five at the dish with a two-run homer and three RBI. Nolan Arenado also recorded a pair of hits to go with two RBI as every member of the starting lineup tallied at least one hit. Kyle Gibson won after giving up three runs on nine hits over five innings. St. Louis has won three of its last five and remains second in the NL Central at 47-and-42. Miles Mikolas starts for St. Louis against Washington this afternoon.
