CARDINALS ANNOUNCE 2023 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE

  1. LOUIS, Mo., August 24, 2022 – The St. Louis Cardinals, in conjunction with Major League Baseball’s league-wide release, today announced their 2023 regular season schedule.  The Season Opener is scheduled for Thursday, March 30, against Toronto as part of a six-game homestand featuring three games with the Blue Jays (March 30, April 1-2) and three games against the Atlanta Braves (April 3-5).

The Cardinals will open the 2023 season at home for the first time in an uninterrupted start to the regular season since 2017 and just the third time since 2010.  It will be the Cardinals first-ever Opening Day series against an American League opponent.

The Cardinals will host the Cubs in London, England for a two-game series June 24-25, the team’s first ever regular season “home” games outside of St. Louis.  Because of the two-game international London Series, the Cardinals will play 79 games in St. Louis in 2023 with their final home games September 29-October 1 versus Cincinnati.

With the introduction of MLB’s new balanced schedule for the 2023 season, the Cardinals will play all 15 American League opponents for the first time including seven three-game home series, seven three-game road series and a pair of two-game home-and-home series with geographic rival Kansas City (May 29-30 at Busch Stadium & August 11-12 at Kauffman Stadium).  In addition to the Opening Weekend series with Toronto, St. Louis will host the Los Angeles Angels (May 2-4), Detroit Tigers (May 5-7), Houston Astros (June 27-29), New York Yankees (June 30-July 2), Minnesota Twins (August 1-3), and Oakland Athletics (August 14-16).  St. Louis will travel to play the Seattle Mariners (April 21-23), Boston Red Sox (May 12-14), Cleveland Guardians (May 26-28), Texas Rangers (June 5-7), Chicago White Sox (July 7-9), Tampa Bay Rays (August 8-10), and Baltimore Orioles (September 11-13).

The Cardinals will face their four National League Central division opponents 13 times each—two series versus each opponent both at home and on the road—for a total of 52 games.  Busch Stadium will play host to Pittsburgh on April 13-16 & September 1-3; Milwaukee on May 15-17 & September 18-21; Cincinnati on June 9-11 & September 29-October 1; and the Chicago Cubs on July 27-30.

Additional key home dates for the 2023 season include four-game weekend series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 18-21 and the New York Mets on August 17-20.

The Cardinals are scheduled to play 42 of their 81 home games before the July 10-12 All-Star Break, playing 13 home games in March/April, 15 home games in May, 12 home games in June (including the two home dates in London), 12 home games in July, 16 home games in August, and 13 home games in September/October.  The club is scheduled to host only one holiday game at Busch Stadium on May 29 vs. Kansas City (Memorial Day).

The Cardinals longest homestand of the 2023 campaign consists of 10 games over a 11-day span from July 27-August 6 versus the Chicago Cubs, Minnesota, and Colorado.  Their longest road trip of the season comes on April 21-30, where they will play 10 consecutive games against Seattle, San Francisco, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The team has a stretch that will see them play 19 straight days beginning on May 12 through May 30.

The Cardinals will make future announcements regarding games times, ticket pricing and ticket availability for the 2023 season.  The complete 2023 regular season schedule follows below and can be viewed at cardinals.com/schedule.
