Sources reporting the Cardinals are signing veteran shortstop Brandon Crawford. Crawford is a four-time Gold Glove winner and he also has a Silver Slugger title, but the 37-year-old hit .194 with seven home runs and 38 RBI in 93 games last season and had at least six stops on the IL in the last two seasons. The Cardinals are bringing in Crawford as a backup to propsect Masyn Winn at shortstop and added depth. The club is concerned that Tommy Edman who is coming off wrist surgery will not be ready by the start of the regular season.
