Cardinals win and Royals come up short

Cardinals 9, Marlins 0

Adam Wainwright pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out nine as the Cardinals crushed the Marlins 9-0 in St. Louis.  Juan Yepez homered twice for St. Louis.  Paul Goldschmidt went 4-for-4 with a home run for the Cardinals, who are 42-and-34.  The Marlins had eight hits in the loss.  Pablo Lopez allowed five runs over five innings as Miami fell to 33-and-39.

Rangers 10, Royals 4

The Rangers racked up 15 hits as they powered past the Royals 10-4 in Kansas City.  Mitch Garver hit his eighth home run of the season and was one of six batters with multiple hits for Texas, which improved to 35-and-37.  Martin Perez picked up his sixth win on the mound after allowing four runs over six frames.  Kris Bubic was tagged with his fifth loss after surrendering seven runs, five earned, in four-and-two-thirds innings.  Whit Merrifield had two hits and two RBI for Kansas City, which fell to 26-and-46.
