Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones missed the first game, and all offseason activities, choosing to hold out while negotiating a new contract. He signed a new one-year deal, one packed with incentives, earlier this week. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid believes Jones will be ready to play Sunday at Jacksonville.
Meanwhile, Travis Kelce was limited in practice and said he feels better each day. Reid said they are taking it “day-by-day” with Kelce. In the past, those words have not been positive when it comes to a player getting on the field that week.
The Chiefs are gearing up for their first road game of the season. Kansas City is set to visit Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon. The defending Super Bowl champs are coming off a 21-20 loss to the Detroit Lions to open the new season. Clyde Edwards-Helaire was the lone player that did not participate in Wednesday’s practice. Chris Jones, Travis Kelce and L’Jarius Sneed were all listed as limited participants. In other news, Jones said that he was “super pleased” with how his contract negotiations with the team worked out.
