(Las Vegas) With defensive holes to fill, the Kansas City Chiefs utilized both of their first round picks Thursday to shore up some of those holes.

With a depleted secondary needing help, the Chiefs traded up 9 spots with New England and took Washington Huskies cornerback Trent McDuffie.

Another weakness coming into the draft was the pass rush. With their second first round pick, the Chiefs went with Purdue defensive end George Karlaftis.

Going into the draft’s second round Friday, the Chiefs are expected to be looking for help at wide receiver. Kansas City will have two picks in the second round.
