Chiefs/Lions preview tonight

(Kansas City, MO) — The defending Super Bowl champions are beginning their title defense. The Chiefs will host the Detroit Lions tonight at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs have not played the Lions since 2019 and will be aiming for their third straight overall win over Detroit. Star tight end Travis Kelce is officially listed as questionable due to a bone bruise in his knee. Kelce did not participate in Wednesday’s practice after leaving Tuesday’s session early due to the injury. In other news, the team waived guard Jerome Carvin with an injury settlement.

(Kansas City, MO) — Kansas City star defensive tackle Chris Jones is giving an update on his contract holdout. Jones said that he is “asking for a raise” while mentioning that it has always been his goal “to be a Kansas City Chief for life.” The 29-year-old said that if the two sides are able to strike a deal, he would be ready to play in tonight’s regular-season opener. Jones has totaled 243 tackles and 65 sacks over his seven-year career in KC.
