- LOUIS – Missouri State men’s basketball standouts Keandre Cook, (Sr., Baltimore, Md.) and Gaige Prim (Jr., Aurora, Colo.) have been named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference team, the league announced Tuesday morning.
Cook was named to the All-MVC second team, while Prim earned All-MVC third team honors in addition to earning a spot on the MVC All-Newcomer Team.
It is the second year in a row Cook has received All-MVC consideration after landing on the third team last season. This year, he is averaging 14.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game with appearances in all 31 games to date. He has made 22 starts and leads the squad in minutes (996), field goals (148), 3-pointers (64) and free throws (94) while ranking second on the team in steals (25). He has led MSU in scoring 12 times this season and ranks 41st on Missouri State’s career scoring list with 865 points in just two seasons.
Prim was the Valley’s top-scoring reserve for most of the season until joining Missouri State’s starting lineup on Jan. 15. He finished the regular season ranked second on the club in scoring, with 13.6 points per game. He has scored in double figures in 11 straight games and in 23-of-26 appearances this season. The transfer from South Plains (Texas) College has also snagged 4.8 rebounds per game, which is second on the team.
The Bears have landed six players on the MVC All-Newcomer Team in the last five seasons, including three of the last four MVC Newcomers of the Year.
Coach Dana Ford leads his troops to St. Louis this weekend for the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at Enterprise Center. The Bears will take on No. 3 seed Indiana State in the quarterfinal round Friday (March 6) at 8:30 p.m. The game will air on FOX Sports Midwest Plus and FOX Sports Kansas City in the Missouri markets.
