Craig Named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri redshirt freshman kicker Blake Craig earned Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors following the Tigers’ 27-21 ranked win over No. 24 Boston College on Saturday.

Craig’s honor was the first of his career and hands Mizzou its first weekly award recognition this season.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Craig totaled a career-high 13 of the Tigers’ 27 points against the Eagles. He connected on field goals from 38-, 38-, 56- and 31-yards out. The 56-yard kick was his second from 50-plus yards this season and marked a career high. He also went 1-of-1 on PAT attempts and added six kickoffs for 390 yards for an average of 65.00 yards per kick.

Craig is tied for first nationally in field goals per game (2.67), tied for fifth in total points scored (36) and tied for sixth in scoring (12.0).

The SEC’s other weekly honors included Alabama’s Jalen Milroe (co-offensive), Georgia’s Raylen Wilson (co-defensive) and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins (co-defensive line), LSU’s Bradyn Swinson (co-defensive), Ole Miss’ Jaxon Dart (co-offensive) and Jared Ivey (co-defensive line), Texas’ Arch Manning (co-freshman), Texas A&M’s Trey Zuhn (offensive line) and Marcel Reed (co-freshman).

The Tigers (3-0) return to action on Saturday when they close out a four-game homestand, hosting Vanderbilt for their first SEC contest of the year. Kickoff on Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium is set for 3:15 p.m. CT with SEC Network and Tiger Radio Network providing coverage.
