Damar Hamlin’s Uncle Says He is on Ventilator After Being Resuscitated Twice

One day after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed during the NFL’s Monday Night Football, his uncle shared information on Damar.

His uncle said, ”His heart had went out so they had to resuscitate him twice. They resuscitated him on the field before they brought him to the hospital and then they resuscitated him a second time when they got him to the hospital.”

The goal right now is to get Damar to breathe without assistance. He is currently using 50% of a ventilator now, according to his uncle.

Damar’s uncle also said he suffered lung damage, but is optimistic he would be able to breathe on his own.

His uncle said, “They sedated him just to give a better chance for him to just continue to heal better. We are just taking it day by day. It seems like he’s trending upwards in a positive way.”

Damar is “flipped over on his stomach” to help with the blood on his lungs and to take pressure off the area.

Damar’s uncle added, “I just want to show my gratitude for the medical staff that were on hand. Because if not for them, my nephew probably wouldn’t even be here.”

Dorrian Glenn, Damar Hamlin’s uncle, talks about watching the Bills-Bengals game and seeing his nephew collapse.

Dorrian Glenn says Damar had to be revived twice: “His heart had went out so they had to resuscitate him twice. They resuscitated him on the field before they brought him to the hospital and then they resuscitated him a second time when they got him to the hospital.”
