Data Shows Which American Cities Have The Most Passionate NFL Fanbases

Which city has the most passionate NFL fans? According to a new Nielsen ranking, Buffalo takes the crown.

Nielsen ranked all 30 NFL markets using eight factors, including TV and radio audiences, game attendance, merchandise purchases, social media activity, streaming and even interest in betting.

Buffalo finished number one, followed by Kansas City, Green Bay, Cincinnati and Philadelphia. Rounding out the top 10 were Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Detroit, New Orleans and Cleveland.

Smaller markets dominated the list, partly because the local NFL team faces less competition for fans’ attention. Philadelphia was the big exception, cracking the top five despite being a major market.

And the bottom of the list may be just as interesting. Los Angeles finished 29th and New York dead last at number 30.Miami was 28th and the San Francisco Bay Area 27th.

Winning also appears to help. Kansas City and Buffalo have been regular playoff contenders, while Detroit’s recent success helped it rank near the top in merchandise sales.

So Bills Mafia may still be waiting for that first Super Bowl championship — but according to Nielsen, they can now claim the NFL’s most passionate fanbase.
