Wednesday night the Class 3 District 4 tournament in Mountain Grove continued, with four teams playing for the right to play in the District Championship
First up, the Willow Springs Bears squared off against the #1 seed St. James Tigers. And the Tigers would show why they’re ranked #1, as they took a commanding 17-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the Bears continued to struggle, only scoring 5 points, and trailed the Tigers by a score of 35-10 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, the Bears would find some offense, but could not contain the Tigers, who scored almost at will. By the end of the game, the St. James Tigers would come out victorious, defeating the Willow Springs Bears 64-35.
The second game of the night saw the Liberty Eagles in action against the Ava Bears. In this game, the Liberty Eagles would struggle on offense, scoring 5 points in the first quarter, and would trail at the end of the first half 19-12. The second half was no kinder for the Eagles as the Ava Bears would pull away, and win easily by a score of 71-49.
With the losses, the basketball season comes to a close for both the Willow Springs Bears and the Liberty Eagles.
