Duffy Earns MVC Scholar-Athlete Laurels

Missouri State outfielder Jack Duffy (Sr., Kansas City, Mo.) was honored Thursday (May 7) by the Missouri Valley Conference, earning a first-team selection on the annual MVC Baseball Scholar-Athlete Team.

Duffy, a senior with a 3.70 grade point average in Advertising and Promotion, has landed on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team for the third straight season after earning honorable mention distinction in 2018 and 2019. He started 16 of the Bears’ 17 games during the abbreviated 2020 season and led the team in doubles (5) and walks (11).

In 2019, Duffy earned MSU’s Willis Award as team MVP after hitting a team-best .305 and picking up second-team All-MVC recognition. During his four-year career, he has made 169 starts totaling 164 hits, 72 RBI, 95 runs scored and nine outfield assists. Duffy was also instrumental in leading the Bears to back-to-back MVC regular-season titles and NCAA appearances in 2017 and 2018, including a Super Regional appearance his freshman season.

Bradley’s Luke Shadid was named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, headlining the impressive list of 13 players from around the league named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete first team.
