COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Southeastern Conference released the 2021 soccer coaches’ postseason awards on Sunday. Milena Fischer represented the Tigers on the All-Freshman team.
Fischer had a breakout season with five goals and five assists, leading the Tigers in goals and points, while finishing second on the team in assists.
The freshman from Germany had a pair of braces on the season against formidable foes in Notre Dame and BYU. Her two goals against Notre Dame were each stunners from distance and the second was an overtime winner. The Tigers remain the only program outside of the top seven teams in the United Soccer Coaches Poll to defeat Notre Dame, thanks to Fischer’s efforts. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week following her performance.
The midfielder then put on another impressive performance on the road at BYU. Despite falling in the match, Fischer’s contributions in the second half led to four Tiger goals. She scored two and assisted two to become the first Tiger since 2001 to reach that mark in a single match.
In SEC play, Fischer added a goal and an assist. She opened the match against Tennessee with a goal in the sixth minute while also assisting a goal versus South Carolina.
