Florida Marlins manager Skip Schumaker will not return to the team next season. He told the team he would not return following Friday night’s win over the Toronto Blue Jays and would miss the final two games because of a family issue.
After Marlins general manager Kim Ng resigned last October, Schumaker had his contract restructured and his team option for 2025 was removed.
Schumaker won the National League Manager of the Year award last year after leading the Marlins to the playoffs. However, the Marlins were 61-100 going into Sunday’s final regular season game.
