COLUMBIA, Mo. – In a vote of the Southeastern Conference head coaches, University of Missouri football saw three of its student-athletes earn All-SEC honors, it was announced by the league on Tuesday. Senior running back Tyler Badie and sophomore kicker Harrison Mevis earned spots on the first team with graduate center Michael Maietti on the second team.
The SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a Doak Walker Award finalist, Badie set a new school record for single-season rushing yards (1,604). His final rushing touchdown of the regular season was his 14th and the 23rd of his career – good for ninth on Mizzou’s single season and career top-10 lists.
A 55-game career starter at center, Maietti anchors the offensive line that blocks for Badie, who leads the SEC in rushing attempts (268), yards (1,604), touchdowns (18) and yards per game (133.7). In 2021, 14 players scored a total of 39 touchdowns to bolster Mizzou’s offense.
Mevis, a two-time SEC Player of the Week in 2021, hit a career-long 56-yard boot to send the game to overtime at Boston College. He is now 3-for-3 on the season and 6-for-7 in his career from beyond 50 yards. On the season, Mevis is 20-of-22 in field goals, including 11-of-13 from 40-49.
Mizzou football has accepted an invitation to play in the 2021 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. The Tigers will face Army West Point on Dec. 22 (7 p.m. kick, ESPN) at TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium.
