High School baseball teams are in district play and in class 1 district 4 with all games being played at Eminence, The Eminence Redwings will play Couch Saturday at 2pm Norwood got the one seed in the district and will play the winner on the 13th The 2 seed Dora Falcons play the 3 seed Kosh Bluejays on the 13th. And in class 2 we have district 2 Greenville is the one seed and got a first-round bye. Thursday 4 seed Ellington vs 5 seed Alton at 2pm then 2 seed Van Buren vs 7 seed Winona at 6pm winners will play on the 13th in the next round. And, in class 2 we have district 10 Mansfield is the one seed and has a first-round bye. 4 seed Forland vs 5 seed Cabool at 1pm then 2 sed Gainesville vs 7 seed Chadwick at 3pm and 3 seed Bakersville vs 6 seed Summersville at 5pm all games played at Mansfield. And in class 3 we have district 9 Licking is the one seed and awaits the winner of Steelville vs Bourbon this game will be played on Friday. Also, in class 3 we have district 10 Houston is the one seed and gets first round bye. 4 seed Seymour vs 5 seed Liberty Saturday at 1pm winner will play Houston in the next round on Monday the 13th also on the 13th Willow Springs the 2 seed vs 3 seed Thayer Bobcats at 4pm. In class 4 we have district 10 4 seed Ava Bears vs 5 seed Hollister Tigers and Mountain Grove the 3 seed plays 6 seed Reeds Spring at 1pm Saturday games are being played at Rogersville. And finally in class 5 we have district 6 seedings that have not yet been done.

Congratulations to Zizzer Cross Country and Track Alum Jayna Gunter on earning MIAA All Conference honors in the 10,000 m and the 5000 m. Jayna placed 3rd in the 10,000 m run with a time of 35:47.76 which is third best time in MSSU history. Jayna also took 3rd in the 5000m with a time of 17:28.45.

The Royals rallied for a 3-2 win over the Brewers to open their three-game series at Kauffman Stadium. Cole Ragans started the game and struck out eight while allowing two runs over six innings. Nick Anderson earned his second victory of the year after striking out two over an inning of relief. Chris Stratton secured his second save of the season after pitching a scoreless top of the ninth. Michael Massey went one for three at the dish with a solo homer. Kansas City is now 21-and-15. They host the Brewers again tonight. Right-hander Seth Lugo will start opposite Milwaukee righty Colin Rea.

Ava falls to Central 15-0, Plato over Cabool 2-1, Gainesville shuts out Alton 9-0, West Plains gets a nice win over Rogersville 5-3, Liberty over Neelyville 10-8, Mountain Grove over Salem 3-2, Norwood tops Bakersfield 5-1, Strafford over Mansfield 8-1, Willow Springs defeats Eminence 10-0, and Dora over Winona 3-0.
