State playoff’s in girls softball in class 1 Ellington was defeated by Valle Catholic 4-0 to advance to the state championship game vs Concordia. And in class 2 Ava lost to West County 2-0 in the semi finals West County will face Mt, Vernon in the championship game. In the baseball state playoff’s Gainesville lost to Iberia 3-2 in class 2. And in class 3 Licking plays Forsyth today at 530 in the sectionals.

The Kansas City Chiefs began Phase 3 of the offseason program on Monday, the team has completed one week of Phase 2 activities, putting in some good work in the weight room, but now things are set to ramp up during Phase 3. The team will get a chance to participate in voluntary workouts called organized team activities (OTAs) in addition to a mandatory minicamp to close things out until training camp. OTAs are entirely voluntary. They still don’t include any padded practices or live contact. They serve as an opportunity for the team to get both their veterans and rookies on the practice field with the inclusion of team drills for the first time during the offseason.

2023 Grin Iron Classic football all-star game benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Tooth Truck will take place on Friday, Jun. 2 at Parkview High School. Kickoff is at 7:30. Tickets are $10 each 6 and under no charge at the gate. All proceeds benefit the Tooth Truck. Local footballers from our area, Carter Mahan from Ava, Evan Counts from Cabool, Harrold Lassiter from Houston, Hunter Means from Mountain Grove, Peyton Mills from Thayer, Heston Miller from West Plains and Ryan Koehler from Willow Springs and Drew Ripko, Kal Acklin and Skyler Rogers all from Liberty.
