The seven annual ORN Cares Charity golf tournament was held Fri with over 80 teams playing. Winning the Championship flight with a score of 54 White and Haynes. Winning A flight with a score of 67 team McGinnis. Winning B flight with a score of 70 Crampton and Shaw. Winning C flight with a score of 73 Jones and Denton. The Cardinals are off today but take on the Twins Tuesday night. Cardinals made some trades over the weekend as well St. Louis sent left-handed starter Jordan Montgomery and right-handed reliever Chris Stratton to Texas in a trade with the Rangers. Texas sent reliever John King to St. Louis along with a pair of top prospects. And The Cardinals traded reliever Jordan Hicks to the Blue Jays in exchange for 2 minor league pitchers.
The Grizzlies second softball season, which will see them move from NJCAA Division II to Division I competition, will begin Aug. 19 with a double header against the Arkansas Chaos club team from Cotter. Games times are 9 and 11 a.m. at the West Plains Parks and Recreation Department softball fields adjacent to the high school parking lot, the home field for the Grizzlies. The team’s annual tailgate event will take place Sept. 9 during the Grizzlies’ home double header against the Mountain Home (Arkansas) Diamonds club team.
