Mizzou football landed the top recruit in the state for 2024 with five-star defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri (Wah-nary). He describes himself as athletic, having a good motor and being able to play anywhere on the defensive line. He’s the number one player in the state out of Lee’s Summit North, the number one D-lineman in the country, and the third-overall ranked player coming out in 2024. Nwaneri is the highest-ranked recruit Mizzou has landed since Dorial Green-Beckham in 2012.
The Grizzlies second softball season, which will see them move from NJCAA Division II to Division I competition, will begin Aug. 19 with a double header against the Arkansas Chaos club team from Cotter. Games times are 9 and 11 a.m. at the West Plains Parks and Recreation Department softball fields adjacent to the high school parking lot, the home field for the Grizzlies. The team’s annual tailgate event will take place Sept. 9 during the Grizzlies’ home double header against the Mountain Home (Arkansas) Diamonds club team.
