Nashville, Tenn. – Georgia scored the final 12 points of the game to secure a 64-59 victory over the University of Missouri men’s basketball team on Wednesday night.
Graduate Nick Honor led four Tigers in double figures with 14 points with Noah Carter and Tamar Bates both adding 11. Graduate Connor Vanover added his first double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Tigers found themselves in an early hole as the Bulldogs raced to a double-digit lead, 21-9. Mizzou would continue to fight, however, and score the final eight points of the first half to head into the locker room trailing by just a single point, 31-30.
The momentum carried over into the second half as the Tigers scored the first five points of the frame to take their first lead, 35-31. The Mizzou advantage stretched to as many as eight points and the Tigers maintained their advantage until the closing minutes. However, leading by seven points, 59-52, with 3:38 remaining, started a game-winning run. The Bulldogs tallied three points on their next two possessions and then forced a turnover in the backcourt to pull within two, 59-57. Georgia then added a second-chance triple for a 60-59 lead before making their final four free throws to secure the win.
Missouri finished the game by shooting 38.3 percent, while the Bulldogs converted 40.0 percent of their field goals, including 12-of-29 from 3-point range.
