The San Francisco Giants scored four times during the bottom of the seventh inning to earn a 4-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Oracle Park. Mitch Haniger got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly, and J.D. Davis followed up with a three-run home run during the frame. Alex Cobb tossed a complete game shutout. He improved to 1-and-1 with the win. San Francisco is on a three-game winning streak. Jordan Montgomery fell to 2-and-3 after giving up one unearned run in six innings of work. St. Louis has dropped three of four.

The Cardinals are the only team in the majors to not win the first game of any series this season.
