Good blocks make way for another victory by the Grizzlies

The Missouri Grizzlies West Plains Grizzlies faced Morton College from Cicero, IL on their home court this Friday night, November 29th 2024. Grizzlies upset the Morton College Panthers by a score of 72-60

1st Half: Lionel Kiumwimba jumps center and first shot up and good by #15, Zaheem Jackson. To match a jump shot good for the Panthers by #4 Kevin Cathey, JR. Grizzlies trying hard to black Cathey who makes a series of layups for the Panthers and gets out to a short point lead before some good Grizzlies score off the hands of #20, Blayne Harris & #12, Ergie Kougnami. Grizzlies jump out to a 15-8 lead with 14:07 to go. It becomes 18-8 & #13, Ethan Smith shoots two. The third three ball of the game by #1, Ryan Richardson as Grizzlies now jump out to a 21-8 lead. But suddenly seven points in a row, all jump shots by #2, Adrian Anderson for the Panthers. Some plays underneath as the Grizzlies continue to play good defense by Richardson & Jackson. A three pointer by Zaheem Jackson brings the Grizzlies back up to ten but rebound by Cathey for the Panthers. Grizzlies continue to hold on by eight as Cathey makes 1-2 at the line. So far, Morton has made six turnovers within the first half. Another right-side three ball is good by Richardson as Grizzlies go back up by ten, 41-31. A steal and a jumper by Richardson gives Grizzlies the lead at the half 42-31.

2nd Half: Some easy shots to start the half by Ergie and Zaheem. The Grizzlies have played a great game so far on defense. Anderson and Cathey are nearly neck and neck in scoring for the Panthers. Cathey is able to get the Panthers within ten after a good jumper. Just as Panthers begin to take charge, #3 Jonathan White gets a steal. White also scores on a far side shot and brings the Grizzlies to the biggest lead of the game. Not to mention; Jayden Roach also makes some great blocks, allowing the Grizzlies to get within at least fifteen. As defense continues to be the primary push of the games, The Grizzlies are able to keep a good enough block on both Anderson, Cathey & 24, Wellington who also comes in as a high scorer for the Panthers.
