The Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzlies hosted the undefeated Mineral Area Cardinals on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024. The Grizzlies were looking to break the Cardinals undefeated record and knock them from their “2nd place in the nation” status.
The Grizzlies had an early lead but the Cardinals tied the game at 13 at the 12-minute mark. As scores approached 20, Mineral Area went on a 10-0 run and gained a strong lead over MSU-West Plains, keeping a 10 point lead through the half. The half ends with the Grizzlies trailing 27-37. The Grizzlies had 13 turnovers to the Cardinals 6 during the first half.
The second half was much lower scoring than the first half for both teams. The Grizzlies would be outscored by the Cardinals in the second half 14 to 19. Both teams shooting accuracy seemed to suffer in the second half and the Grizzlies would continue to have turn over issues.
The Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzlies fall to the still undefeated Mineral Area Cardinals, 41 to 56. The Grizzlies next take on the State Fair Roadrunners at the West Plains Civic Center on Jan. 27, 2024.
