WEST PLAINS, Mo. –The Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball team has made a change to its schedule this week.
Instead of playing Missouri Southern State University’s junior varsity squad at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, they will face a team from Missouri Baptist University at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4.
Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay said the injury bug has plagued Missouri Southern early this season, and the Lions were not going to be able to field a team for Thursday’s scheduled contest.
He reached out to Missouri Baptist Tuesday to see if the Spartans had room in their schedule for a game, and they offered to come to West Plains on Friday.
Phay explained the game time for Friday’s contest was set at 5 p.m. so it wouldn’t conflict with the 7 p.m. district championship football game being hosted by the West Plains High School Zizzers.
Those who have already purchased tickets for Thursday’s game will be able to use them at Friday’s contest, he added.
