WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The coaching staff of the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Softball team will host a skills camp Aug. 11-12 at the West Plains Parks and Recreation Department softball fields adjacent to the high school parking lot.
In the event of rain, the camp will be held at The Clubhouse, 1402 South Valley Road in West Plains.
The camp will feature defensive drills, pitching fundamentals, base running, infield and outfield skills and hitting fundamentals, according to Grizzly Softball Head Coach Don Long. It is open to first through 12th grade students.
First through fourth graders will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Aug. 11 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Aug. 12.
Fifth through eighth grade students will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Aug. 11 and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 12.
Ninth through 12th grade students will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 11 and 10:30 a.m. to noon. Aug. 12.
“We’re excited to offer this Grizzly Softball camp opportunity for the youth in the West Plains and surrounding area,” Long said. “We’re looking forward to showcasing our Grizzly Softball athletes, who will be volunteers at the camp. We welcome all softball athletes to our camp.”
Pre-registration is required. Those who register by Aug. 4 will pay a discounted $75 camp fee. Those who register after Aug. 4 will be charged the full $100 camp fee.
