Grizzly Volleyball camps set for July

WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Area youngsters who will be in second through 12th grades during the 2023-24 academic year can develop their volleyball skills during the Grizzly Volleyball Summer Camps.

            The camps will be offered in July at the West Plains Civic Center. They will be directed by Paty Figueiredo, head coach of the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Volleyball team.

Little Grizzlies Camp

            The first camp, Little Grizzlies, is set for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 10 and 11 for youths in second through seventh grade. In this camp, volleyball fundamentals will be stressed in a fun and exciting atmosphere, Figueiredo said. Lightweight Volley-Lite and youth training balls will be used for younger campers, she added.

            All campers will receive a T-shirt. Cost of the camp is $50 per person if registered by June 23. The cost is $60 after that date. 

 

All Skills Clinic

            The All Skills Clinic will be offered July 17 for eighth through 12th graders. It is designed to help campers develop all-around skills. Camp sessions will be broken down into different skills trained individually and in game-like situations, Figueiredo said.

            Morning and afternoon sessions will be offered, but each session will focus on different skills, so campers are encouraged to attend both sessions, she added. Times are 9 a.m. to noon for the morning session and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. for the afternoon session.

            All campers will receive a T-shirt. Cost of the camp is $60 per person per session if registered by June 23. The cost is $70 per person per session after that date. Campers who sign up for both sessions will pay a $110 fee per person if registered by June 23. The price will be $130 per person after that date.

 

Ball Handling/Defense/Passing Clinic

            A Ball Handling/Defense/Passing Clinic will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 18 for eighth through 12th graders. This camp will focus on improving players’ ball control, defense and serve receive skills. Campers will improve their understanding of defensive systems and learn how to apply them through drills and in game-like situations.

            All campers will receive a T-shirt. Cost of this clinic is $55 per person if registered by June 23. After that date, the cost will be $65. Players from all positions are welcome to attend.

 

Setting Plus Hitting: Transition and Side Out Clinic

             The Setting Plus Hitting: Transition and Side Out Clinic is set for 2 to 4 p.m. July 18th for eighth through 12th graders. This camp will focus on improving setting and hitting skills and understanding offensive systems. Campers will be combined to work on transition and side-out drills in game-like situations.

            All campers will receive a T-shirt. Cost of this clinic is $55 per person if registered by June 23. After that date, the cost will be $65. Players from all positions are welcome to attend.

            Registrations will be taken until the first day of each camp session; however, to receive the discount and to guarantee correct T-shirt size registrations must be submitted by June 23 at MSUWPGrizzlies.com/Camps/2023_GRIZZLY_VOLLEYBALL_SUMMER_CAMP.
