Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Hull, affectionately known to fans as “The Golden Jet,” has died at the age of 84. His cause of death has not been officially reported.
The legendary NHL player was an icon in hockey history, and considered one the greatest hockey players in the sport. Hull played for the Chicago Blackhawks and Harford Whalers and for the World Hockey Association’s Winnipeg Jets over the course of his 23-year career in the sport.
The winger was a three-time Art Ross Trophy winner, a two-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner and had also accumulated a Lester Patrick Trophy and a Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. He has long been considered one of NHL’s top 100 players of all-time.
Hull helped lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup victory in 1961 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983 , the same year his No. 9 was retired. A statue in his honor was unveiled outside Chicago’s United Center in 2011.
