COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri baseball (12-5, 0-3 SEC) returns home to face its second consecutive top-five foe as the Tigers battle No. 3 Arkansas (13-3, 3-0 SEC) at Taylor Stadium over the weekend.

First pitch in the series opener is set for 6 p.m. on Friday with the matchup streaming on SEC Network +. Saturday’s game will air on SEC Network in a 2 p.m. first pitch before the series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. on SECN +.

SERIES BUSINESS

  • Mizzou and Arkansas meet for the 65th time in Friday’s series opener at Taylor Stadium. The all-time series is as tight as can be with the Tigers posting a 31-28-1 mark against the Razorbacks.
  • Mizzou is actually 35-28-1 all-time in on-field results, but four Tiger wins were later vacated.
  • Arkansas has won four straight in the series, including a sweep in 2019. Each of those four games have been decided by two runs or less, including three one-run games.
  • In Columbia, the Tigers are 14-8 all-time against Arkansas.

  • Junior Ty Wilmsmeyer continues to show his growth in his third season with the Tigers, hitting .361 through the first 17 games of the year.
  • Wilmsmeyer leads the black & gold with 22 base hits on the season.
  • The outfielder’s success doesn’t stop at the plate, as Wilmsmeyer is a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts.
  • Wilmsmeyer’s 22 hits are already double his 2021 output.

RUN TIGERS RUN

  • Mizzou has swiped 33 bags through 17 games this season to rank among the most dangerous teams on the basepaths.
  • The Tigers’ 1.94 stolen bases per game lead the SEC and are 31st in the country.
  • 12 different players have a stolen base on the season including every Tiger which has started at least half the games this season.

CAPITALIZING CATS

  • Mizzou has certainly made the most of its scoring opportunities this season, driving home runs in 51 of 63 chances with a runner on third and less than two outs.
  • Montgomery leads the black & gold with a perfect 9-for-9 mark in scoring runners from third with less than two down.
  • As a team, the .810 success rate far outpaces that of the Tigers’ opponents who score just 53% of the time in the same situation.
  • Mizzou has also excelled with runners in scoring position in general, hitting .337 as a team.

SCOUTING THE RAZORBACKS

  • Arkansas enters the weekend ranked No. 3 in the D1 Baseball poll, marking the second consecutive top-five foe for the Tigers.
  • The Razorbacks are led by a standout pitching staff, despite losing ace Peyton Pallette prior to the season. The Hogs boast three weekend starters all with ERAs under 3.50, led by Connor Noland with a 3.07 ERA on Friday nights.
  • At the plate, Michael Turner leads Arkansas with a .369 average and 20 RBI. His four homers also pace the Razorbacks.
  • As a club, Arkansas is hitting .276 on the season with 23 homers and another 40 doubles.
