Houston welcomed the Ava Bears to town. It was also Homecoming night. Ava started the game with a methodical drive, taking six minutes off of the clock and scoring with their rushing attack. Ava used their run game to score with one play on their next drive, leading 16-0 after the first quarter.
Houston got their own running game going in the second quarter Their drive started with consistent three to five yard plays. They bust open with a big run to the goal line and scored on the next play, cutting the gap 22-8. Ava had two touchdowns negated by penalties, back to back, right before the half. Touchdowns were swapped during the second quarter and Ava lead 30-16.
Houston stood their ground to start the second half, but Ava’s rushing attack was too much. Ava scored three touchdowns in the third quarter, all on the ground. Houston was able to respond with one touchdown. Ava lead 52-24 after three quarters. The fourth quarter saw touchdowns swapped again and that ended the scoring for the night. Ava would win 59-31. Houston falls to (3-3) overall and (2-2) in conference play. They will travel to Willow Springs next week.
