Houston goes in for the kill but is still upset by The Mtn.Grove Panthers

This past Friday night; The Houston Tigers took on The Mountain Grove Panthers @ Mtn Grove. They faced another loss as The Panthers took a 41-20 victory.

1st Quarter: Layne Seago is the first to pick up yardage for the Tigers and makes a few pass attempts to Jordan Arthur, getting the ball down to the 40 yard line. The Tigers end up forcing the Panthers to punt but succeeding and score on the play as the punt is blocked. Panthers take a 8-0 lead. Bricen Jordan gets the ball down to 41 after they get the ball back. Jordan passes to Jordan Arthur who gets a nice carry but gets a holding call in attempt to make a run, Tigers pick up another holding call as the go for 4th & inches, backing them up to the 39. Both teams play with a run-heavy offense, primarily the Panthers who continue to threaten 1st down territory.

2nd Quarter: Panthers go for a 1st and 10 for the 38. An incomplete pass and a holding call for Aiden Estep & Destin Unger. Unger ends up getting a first down. A host of tigers bring Unger down as he tries to get up to the line of scrimmage. Unger passed to Cooper Hoerning as Hoerning makes an 18-yard touchdown run bringing the score to 15-0. Houston ends up being forced to punt the ball after a incomplete pass. Panthers also keep making a few intended passes but still coming up short. Unger picks up a gain of about 34 yards on this pass play from Estep. This will bring a 32 yard touchdown run for Estep. Panthers will now take a 21-0 lead. As the Tiger offense comes back on the field, DJ Riley picks up about  40 yards. 16 yards on the carry for Jordan Arthur. Tiger offense ends up pushing Jordan Arthur into the in-zone for a 21-yard touchdown as Arthur picks up some more yardage. This brings the score to 21-7. As the Panthers take over once again on offense, Aiden Estep makes another easy scoring play as the Tiger defense lets him slip out once again. A 28-yard touchdown run off the hands of Destin Unger. Panthers now take a 28-7 lead over the Tigers. Layne Seago also has a close call on a carry and a good run as he gets a gain of 26 yards. However, after this pass; The Tigers will take an illegal procedure call on the play. Tiger make another catch, a 19 yard touchdown pass by Arthur. This will bring the score to 29-14 after a good extra point kick by Dillon Shelton. The Panthers continue to hold a tight position in the duration of the half. They try to get a little more yardage, but ultimately allow the clock to run out

HALFTIME- Mtn. Grove Panthers; 28/ Houston Tigers: 14

3rd Quarter: Panthers start with a 2nd down and one and end up with a holding call. Destin Unger gets a carry on a trick play by the Tiger as the Tigers aim for a field position. After a punt, Bicen Jordan almost gets a run but after a fake pass; Jordan gets a gain of 20 yards. Jordan Arthur makes a pass to DJ Riley as they go for 2nd down and eight. Tigers are declined a pass play after making it within reach of the Panther 30 yard line. This will allow Panthers to go for 1st & 10. Another allowance is a makeup for a previous fumble for the panthers as Cooper Koerhning scores on a 67-yard touchdown run which brings the score to 34-14. Some additional players come in for The Tiger offense as they take the next position as they set up to keep the ball going into the last quarter. At the end of Three, score remains 34-14.

 

4th Quarter: Tigers attempt to may some more complete plays than they did in the first half but still end up loosing possession of the ball. Panthers continue their run-heavy offense as the leading runner as Braydon Curtiss scores on the 37 yard touchdown run with an incomplete two pointer. Panthers take a 41-14 lead. Tigers make it to the 44 where they go for 3rd and 10. Caden Guerra for the Tigers makes it down to the 33 after a pass from DJ Riley. Guerra passes to Jordan Arthur and makes a few Panthers miss and Arthur goes in for the touchdown. Tigers go on the board for the Second half as the score goes up to 41-20. Panthers take a few more offensive plays but ultimately are ready for the victory formation.

FINAL SCORE: Mountain Grove Panthers: 41/ Houston Tigers: 20
