SPRINGFIELD — In consultation with the Springfield Police Department and local resources, Missouri State men’s basketball coach Dana Ford announced Tuesday the cancellation of Saturday’s “Bears, Badges and Kids” event at Grant Beach Park.

Ford noted the recent increase in local COVID-19 cases has necessitated the announcement for the July 24 event.
“Unfortunately, due to the rise in local COVID-19 cases, we are unable to serve our community by hosting this month’s Bears, Badges and Kids educational program,” said Ford. “We look forward to our next scheduled gathering on Saturday, Aug. 28 at The Dream Center.”
