The Liberty Lady Eagles hosted the (6-6) Ava Lady Bears this Thursday night, January 16th, 2025. Lady Eagles were able to improve their record to 7-5 and win the matchup by a score of 57-22.
1st Quarter: Tip controlled by the Lady Eagles and a pass from Korrie Lind to Ella Phipps who shoots a three. Rebound by Jessie Schrable. A few trips down the floor and several turnovers by the Lady Bears gives the Lady Eagles a chance to score as Ellla Phipps shoots a wide open three. This and a foul plus two free throws. Lady Eagles continue to run with it, trying to shut down Schrable for the Bears. Ebanee Nelson also scores about four out of the nine points for the Lady Bears in the first quarter. Hadley Chowning is able to score on a three pointer at the buzzer ending the Quarter by a Score of 18-9.
2nd Quarter: Another three pointer by Hadley Chowning to start the Quarter. Alexis Emerick scores a point for the Lady Bears from the far side. Lady Eagles continue to dominate as they rebound it and a good two pointer by Ashlynn Henry. Emerick continues to challenge the Lady Eagles on rebounds. But a fourth three pointer for the night and another three pointer by Ella Phipps, her second. Lady Eagles only managing so far to make two turnovers as Lady Bears attempt to build some intensity. Make it four as Ella Phipps tries to drive in and comes close to rushing the Lady Eagle offense and another long pass from Lind to Henry falls short.
HALFTIME- Liberty Lady Eagles: 33/ Ava Lady Bears: 15
3rd Quarter: Ava Lady Bears have the ball to start the second half as Emerick passes to Ebanee Nelson. Lost and picked back up by the Lady Eagles, Lind and Henry try for another pass shot first missing it, but two good scores by Ella Phipps. Score now, 40-15 with three minutes to go. Buckets follow with one good by Emerick which is the first two points scored by the Lady Bears in the quarter. Two more buckets by Chowning and Henry as well as an additional two free free throws scored at the line Rector for the Lady Bears. Quarter ends with the score, 46-19.
4th Quarter: The majority of the last eight minutes are shot at the free throw line.Rilee Croston makes her first bucket of the night for the Lady Bears as defnse begins to ramp up and a few more fouls are called on the Lady Eagles. Jessie Schrable also makes several more points at the line for the Lady Bears. The Lady Eagles also got some trips to the line by both Jaylee Tharp and Ashlynn Henry. Hadley chowning is able to make her fourteenth point of the night as Lady Eagles continue to dominate from the three point line and they win the matchup by a Final Score of 57-22.
