The Willow Springs Lady Bears and the Liberty Lady Eagles met in Seymour for a semi-final match-up in the district tournament. This is the fourth meeting between these teams. Each team struggled with turnovers and cold shooting. The Lady Bears held a 6-2 lead. The Lady Eagles started to get on track and took a 12-9 lead. A three point basket at the buzzer for Willow Springs, brought the Lady Bears within one, trailing 15-14.
The Lady Bears ended the first quarter with a three point basket and started the second quarter in the same way. Willow took the lead 18-15, then the Lady Eagles responded. Liberty went on a 14-0 run before Willow scored to cut into the lead. Liberty took a 10 point lead into halftime, 31-21.
During the third quarter, the Lady Bears were to cut into the 10 point deficit, slightly. Liberty was plagued again by turnovers. Liberty held a 41-34 lead, going into the fourth quarter. Liberty responded each time the Lady Bears attempted to cut into the Lady Eagle lead. Willow Springs could only within 7 points during the fourth quarter. Liberty will advance to the district championship with a 64-51 win. The Lady Eagles will face the Licking Lady Wildcats on Friday, at 6:00 pm. The game can be heard on 96.9 the Fox.
