Lady Panthers move up to 8th in this week’s NCAA-II poll

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury Lady Panthers moved up one spot and are ranked eighth in this week’s NCAA-II coaches’ poll. Drury is 28-4 after a 97-51 win against William Jewell last night in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament.

Glenville State (27-0) remained the number one ranked team this week. Grand Valley State (25-1) received a first-place vote and is ranked second, while Union (Tenn.) (23-2) is ranked third. Ashland (26-2) is the fourth-ranked team in the country, while Fort Hays State (25-3) is fifth in the poll.

Three teams from the Midwest Region are ranked in the top eight nationally, with GVSU second, Ashland third, and the Lady Panthers eighth. Walsh (25-3), also in the Midwest Region, is ranked 15th nationally.

This week’s poll marks the 133rd consecutive week the Lady Panthers have been ranked in the top 25, the longest streak in the nation. It is also their 71st straight week for Drury to be ranked in the top 10.

Drury plays Thursday at 2:30 pm against Rockhurst in the GLVC quarterfinals in Edwardsville, Illinois. The Lady Panthers will be seeking their sixth-straight GLVC Tournament championship. The league semifinals are on Saturday, March 5, and the championship game is Sunday at 1 pm in Edwardsville.
